MentorTalks: Forever is Now

Join Fulbright alumnus and renowned Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass on MentorTalks, Friday, September 17th at 10:00 a.m. EDT.

Renowned Egyptian archaeologist and former minister of antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawass is a force of nature who has been excavating, preserving, and protecting Egyptian heritage and human history for the past 30 years. Among his numerous discoveries are the Valley of the Golden Mummies at Bahariya Oasis, the Tombs of the Pyramid Builders, and the Osiris Shaft at Giza. Earlier this year, Dr. Hawass and his team discovered an entire lost city in Luxor.

Dr. Hawass is also known for successfully repatriating more than 5,000 artifacts for Egypt and he continues to advocate for the return of Egyptian relics, such as the Rosetta Stone and the bust of Nefertiti.

His latest project is an upcoming art exhibition entitled “Forever is Now” - the first international art exhibition to take place at the Giza Pyramids and the surrounding plateau, run by Art D'Égypte, with support by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt.

What would you like to talk to Dr. Hawass about? His Fulbright experience and studying in the U.S.? How he got into archaeology? What drives him to preserve and protect Egypt’s cultural heritage? Why “Forever is Now?”

Post your questions for Dr. Hawass on these topics and more on our Facebook Event page and our LinkedIn Event page using the #MentorTalks, or email them to us at exchangealumni@state.gov, subject line: MentorTalks, and we’ll see you online on September 17th!
