Youth Say NO to Plastic!

Everywhere all around the world, about 80% of products people use daily is plastic-made. People like to use plastic because it is cheap and convenient just because it is available everywhere, but not many of them aware how dangerous it is after the consumption. The products goes from plastic bag, plastic cup, plastic bowl, plastic dish, plastic bottle, plastic basket, plastic computer case, plastic shoes, etc. Once they are thrown away, they could not be recycled but dumped on the land field, into the river, or into the sea. The problem is these plastic products are not really thrown away and disappear. They will stick around to where they are for more than 100 years. Where would these plastic go when the consumption rises dramatically from day to day? We believe that today people did not really pay attention on the harm they bring to environment through their daily consumption of plastic products. Therefore, there is really a demand and need to bring the problem to people to realize that they need to do something to reduce their consumption.

Change for the better day!

In general, the project will focus on what causes the environmental problems and impacts following, how to deal with and fix those things in a productive way. We plan to run the project in the southern part of Laos especially the rural area where the education development rarely gets through. Moreover, we pay much attention on the primary school students as they are representatives of our new young generation. The main objectives of our project are to raise their awareness of the nature, environmental, as well as river protection so that we will help them broaden their own knowledge plus understanding of the environmental issues. Secondly, plastic bottle reducing and waste recycling are another issue that we are really interested in. We will promote using reusable bottles substitute for the plastic ones, also provide them some fun activities called "Transformation" and make them feel motivated to continue following us. Students will take part in transformation activities which will allow them to use their all creativity plus imagination to make the new items by remaking and reforming no longer used things. For instance, the black board eraser from small pieces of clothing, cool style vase from the normal plastic bottle and unique jar for putting pencils form newspaper. What they will gain after the reforming old item process is ideas and concepts to recycle things in such a creative way that the items they make can be used in real daily life. Another thing is that they will be able to reduce the amount of their waste. Although, that?s just only so small in amount they can do, we do believe that a simple and small thing can make a big different. After all those activities, they will get a chance to be part in both drawing and writing description contest in a theme of "The cause and impact to both the nature and environment in your attitude" and "What and how to do to protect the nature and environment in your community". Overall, we will be able to help them create a strong ideal to consider about the environmental problems as we all the people have been facing in order to decrease all those together effectively. Therefore, they will become our future strong generation.

School Up-Green

As today's youth will be tomorrow's leaders, the idea is to create an environment that is conducive to proper practice and an environment that they will want to create for themselves wherever they may be and whatever career they may want to pursue. When they pursue their careers for service, they don't have to be called "environmentalist" ? because what we aim for is a time when we are able to live sustainably and resiliently, and that caring for the environment is innate in everyone's culture.
