A Celebrated American Soprano

Former Fulbright student Renee Fleming is a celebrated American soprano whose signature roles include Countess Almaviva in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Desdemona in Verdi's Otello, Violetta in Verdi's La traviata, and title roles in: Dvořák's Rusalka, Massenet's Manon, Massenet's Thaïs, Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, and Arabella.

Fleming’s Fulbright Scholarship enabled her to work in Europe with Arleen Augér and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf. She has been awarded the Richard Tucker Award and the Swedish Polar Music Prize for her services in music.
