Extending a Helping Hand to Deliver Justice

Helping Hands is a project that provides pro-bono legal aid to Togoan detainees in need. Since its inception in April 2020, the project - which was funded by a U.S. Department of State grant - has successfully brought together 78 lawyers to present 114 cases.

In partnership with the Union of Young Lawyers, Helping Hands has also allowed 50 detainees to receive their due process and 30 detainees to regain freedom. Facilitated by 50 exchange alumni from the Global Alumni Association of Togo (GAAT), Helping Hands is a powerful instance of collaboration among ExchangeAlumni and community organizations to deliver justice to those who are disadvantaged within their communities.
