We'd like to share this opportunity from Arizona State University to invite your university to join a first-ever global student hackathon! There is no cost to universities or their students to participate. To get started, register your university online by October 31.
After registering, you will select a challenge, recruit your student teams, hold your hackathon, select a winning team to represent your university and post a brief video about your top team to the Devex website. You can hold your hackathon in-person or online, depending on what COVID-19 makes possible in your area.
The hackathon is being held the week of December 10 as part of Devex World — an annual gathering for 800,000+ members of the online global development community Devex. Devex World 2020 will happen completely online, meaning that anyone anywhere can claim a ticket and attend.
This year, Arizona State University and Devex are organizing the ASU/Devex Student Hackathon, inviting students from any university in the world to switch on their fresh thinking to design innovative solutions for one of 5 global challenges.
Panels of expert judges will select a winning team and solution for each of the 5 challenges. Selected hackathon winners will have opportunities to present their Challenge Solutions to the audience, be featured in the event’s agenda, receive extensive media coverage and gain opportunities to develop their ideas. Judging criteria includes the impact and scalability of the proposed solution, the suitability of technology and relevance to a local context.
Devex World converges the top thinkers and changemakers imagining a better world, from the leaders of institutions such as the World Bank and the Gates Foundation to authors, company CEOs, and civil society organizations.
