Sri Lankan Alumni Celebrate 75 Years of International Exchanges

Marking 75 years of U.S. government-sponsored international exchange programs, U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka Atul Keshap hosted a reception for over 200 Sri Lankan alumni at the Jefferson House on September 28.

“The power of people-to-people exchanges is a key to world peace,” said Ambassador Keshap at the reception. Alumni at the event included human rights activists, leaders of the corporate and NGO fields, as well as alumni in government such as Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and Members of Parliament.

Since 1952, the United States has sponsored more than 2500 visitors from Sri Lanka, participating in exchanges such as the International Visitor Leadership Program, Fulbright, Hubert Humphrey, and Eisenhower, as well as Professional and Legislative programs.
