Characterizing and Mapping Volcanic Flows on Mount St Helens via Dual-band SAR Imagery

Mapping volcanic flows can be vastly improved by considering backscattering characteristics as a metric of surface roughness. In this study, we use software developed in-house to extract a measure of roughness from airborne synthetic aperture radar (ASAR) backscattering data. Our approach facilitates differentiation of various volcanic deposits – namely, debris avalanches, lahars, lava flows, and pyroclastic density currents (PDC) – which is a key factor in mapping volcanic terrains.

Summary She connects is a project in Kasengere rural settlement of area 25A in Lilongwe, that aims at enabling 60 rural marginalized young women and girls of age 14 to 35 who have limited or no access to digital skills, tools and knowledge to effectively have digital access, knowledge and skills by being trained on how to use and operate mobile phones, radios and computers, how to access information on internet and how to use basic Microsoft office packages such as Microsoft word.
