Set up a tissue culture laboratory with capacity to produce and disseminate 500,000 tissue cultured and disease free banana planting materials to farmers in Kagera region

Approximately 99% of the population in Kagera region (8.0 Million people) who depended on bananas for their livelihood: food and income, are now facing extreme food shortage following the outbreak and devastation of the banana bacterial wilt. This project seeks to apply TISSUE CULTURE bio-technological innovations, to be able to help farmer replenish their banana production, through provision of clean and disease free banana planting materials. This project looks at setting up a tissue culture infrastructure for this purpose.

Design of Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation Controlled Three-Level Inverter Using Soft Computing Methods

In this project, multilevel inverters have been studied using cascaded inverters with separated DC sources. This structure requires isolated DC-link voltages. In multilevel inverters, it is easy to reach high voltage levels in high power applications with lower harmonic distortion and switching frequency, which is very difficult to get this performance with conventional two level inverters. Minimum level number of a multilevel inverter is three and three level inverter structures are chosen for this work.
