Going Green ? E-Waste to Wealth Nigeria Fulbright Program (AEIF 2012)

This project will offer training on how small and medium scale businesses can be established and nurtured through e-waste management, processing and disposal, thereby developing entrepreneurial skills in Nigerian youth participants. This is a project which aims to address significant environmental concerns by creating economic opportunities for those interested in combating the problem. The participants will be trained on how to identify the sources of e-Waste and to teach prospective entrepreneurs how to recycle and repurpose the constituent elements of the waste.

Training Rural Women Entrepreneurs in Export Marketing Skills (AEIF 2012)

This project will increase the capacity of medium and small scale women owned businesses in rural areas to access export markets so that they can better sustain their families and communities. Specifically, the women entrepreneurs will learn about project identification, product development, quality control, packaging and marketing- all essential skills in a market where consumers and wholesalers demand consistency and volume. The team will partner with the AWEP chapter in Ghana as a source of information to both rural entrepreneurs and existing businesses that would ultimately purchase the goods and services these women produce.

Promoting Women Entrepreneurs in Rural Cameroon (AEIF 2012)

This project targets rural women and young girls in a large scale training and skills program so that there can be greater participation by these women in the markets and business community. The women will receive training and regular coaching on how to start and sustain a business, as well as preparing 230 young girls in rural areas to be the female entrepreneurs of tomorrow by providing them with school supplies and sensitizations on the importance of completing their schooling.

Mentoring Nicaragua?s Social Entrepreneurs (AEIF 2012)

The proposed project will provide low income high school students from Nicaragua the opportunity to gain training, skills, resources and access to social networks that will allow them to develop their vocation, democratic values, social entrepreneurial spirit and leadership potential. The alumni aspire to create a mentorship program in Nicaragua for high school social entrepreneurs, something that currently does not exist in Nicaragua. The proposed program will use a combination of trainings and one-on-one mentorship to document of the youth participants? experiences through photography, video, social networks and a web-site.

Socially Inclusive Entrepreneurship Training (AEIF 2012)

The main goal is to assist women entrepreneurs in Ecuador to contribute to social and economic development through improving and expanding their businesses. The project team will create a community of collaboration and support for the women through an experiential seminar, introducing these women to powerful networks of entrepreneurs of their area, and providing a forum through which they can share their experiences and lessons learned. The alumnae aspire to overcoming the gender bias in existing business and entrepreneurship seminars. These two-day experiential seminars are tailor-made programs, especially designed for women who will address the particular challenges they face in a business environment.

Social inclusion and business development of the community of San Luis, Dominican Republic (AEIF 2012)

This project promotes integrated development of the community of San Luis, through training in business, leadership and civic participation of young people and micro and small enterprises. The team will train young leaders who can promote social inclusion and community participation; provide businesses with the tools to develop their business holistically; encourage community involvement in decisions that affect them; create a network between entrepreneurs trained for community empowerment and development; and develop a youth network of citizens who can advocate for their rights and for community development. The inspiration for this project lies in the combination of crucial areas for the development of the San Luis community: youth and local businesses. This project will not only provide training, but also monitor the implementation of the learned strategies and techniques. With this, the alumni hope to lay the foundations for community to begin to implement comprehensive social development

PPKM (Financial Inclusion Through Financial Literacy)

Financial literacy is an essential tool to break the cycle of poverty. This project will develop a financial literacy program, train master trainers and university student trainers, and then support the development of volunteer-led financial literacy programs for members of disadvantaged communities in Indonesia. The project both support economic development and will promote linkages between university, community and government on this vital topic. Linkages of this type are rarely developed in Indonesia.

Legal Clinic for Aspiring Social and Business Entrepreneurs (AEIF 2012)

This project aims to provide unique practical comprehensive trainings in law and accounting for individuals interested in implementing social and business projects. The implementing team, consisting largely of FLEX alumni, seeks to support the development of entrepreneurship by organizing a series of specially-designed lectures, practical seminars, and case-by-case advising which will offer answers and advice on any difficult legal matters that one might encounter while starting and running commercial and non-profit organizations.

Mentoring Business Women in Rural Georgia (AEIF 2012)

The International Businesswomen's Network of Georgia (IBWNG), under the leadership of an IVLP alumna, seeks to connect and empower women entrepreneurs in the more remote regions across Georgia by providing business training and strategies. The project will also showcase the cultural highlights and entrepreneurial efforts in these regions. Additionally, the project will connect the IBWNG with a larger network of European women colleagues and build on the connections between alumni of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs.
