"Hello, I’m Gessye. I’m from the Republic of the Congo and I was a Fulbright Foreign Student at American University. During my second year at American University and in the U.S. I realized that people do not know as much about where I am from. You know, Africa is this big place where nobody knows what’s happening there and people did not have ideas about what life looks like on the daily basis for us, people from Africa. So I designed and wrote a documentary called 'The Africa We Know.' And that documentary seeks to provide a new side from us, people from Africa. I took students and professors from Africa as well as Americans who’ve been in Africa to share their experience and share that positive side of my continent."
