Light for Healthier Youths (L.F.H.Y)

Our plan is to educate the underserved children in the outskirt remote areas that have limited access to health and hygiene knowledge through lectures, talks, and follow-up programs such as games and quizzes. Children will become aware of the basic hygiene level and practices they should have, which they are currently ignorant about. By educating the young, the future of these children are less likely to be hindered by problems and diseases that arise from unhygienic habits. By encouraging them also to share their knowledge to their peers and to the young in the future, the community will continue on to sustain itself without external educational help.

Promoting access to and quality of education in two public sector schools in district Nankana Sahib

Overall situation of education in Pakistan and in Punjab province has been requiring serious attention of the decision makers since decades. Allocation of only 2% of the GDP for education has not been producing desired resulted; and the people of Pakistan have not yet shown that education is their priority despite some serious efforts by the government at times. It has been noticed that the government has started taking interest in the education and the allocations are increasing; though a tiny increase is seen so far, exhibiting the political commitment of the Provincial government in particular which is underway in close cooperation with the USAID, UN and other INGOs. These are good signs and are inviting local change agents and activists to come forward and join hands with the state actors to holistically improve the situation of education Pakistan. The proposed project is an inspiration of the political commitment of the state actors and those like US government; and also to set an example of development work for education by the individual activists so as other could note and follow the footprints matured herein.
