Perovskite nanoscintillators for radiation detection

Scintillation detectors are often used when energy resolution can be sacrificed for reduced cost. Scintillator materials produce photons of a given wavelength when ionizing radiation passes through them. The number of optical photons produced is proportional to the energy of the incoming γ-ray, with the optical photons amplified with an electron photomultiplier tube. We will focus on using novel scintillator materials based on lead-halide perovskite nanocrystals coupled with thin-film photodetectors to provide unprecedented performance/cost.

CFIS-COMPUTER SCIENCE TRAINING CENTER OF SAFO

CFIS is a computer science training project which aims to end computer science illiteracy in the small rural town outside the capital of Bamako and believes that access to computer science classes should be available for those living in small rural areas.CFIS’s mission is to address the digital divide in Safo. We do this through computer science education with the goal of increasing economic opportunity for all citizens regardless of their ability to use a computer.

Representing Tunisia in Eurobot 2020

Expiration: May 15, 2020

We are an aeronautics and robotics club in Tunisia called Aerobotix INSAT. We participate in local competitions throughout the year but our main goal has always been participating in Eurobot which is an international competition held in France every year. Last year, we won the 7th place as the best result by an African team ever but this year we are more determined than ever to win the competition. Therefore, we are looking for some funds to buy the material we need and to finance our travel to France.
For more information, don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you.

Conservation of Indigenous Species Native to West Africa

Approximately 75% of the world’s agricultural plant genetic diversity has been lost because of production of high-yielding, genetically uniform plants that have replaced native crops. Therefore, there is a critical need to meet Africa’s food needs while addressing issues of nutrition, food security, poverty, and health by utilizing and conserving nutrient rich indigenous food crops. My long term goal is to contribute to hunger eradication efforts on the African continent by preserving biodiversity of indigenous plants. This will not only provide regional food security, but will promote science literacy, and recruit and educate the next generation of science ambassadors in Ghana and other sub-Saharan African countries. Specific research objective in this proposal was focused on evaluating the genetic diversity of frafra potato populations in Ghana and surrounding sub-Saharan African countries in which this species is cultivated. The proposal included innovative approaches to study traditional subjects while providing hands-on experiential learning experiences for faculty, staff and students at the University of Ghana.
