First-principles characterization toward solar fuels: photocatalytic conversion of carbon dioxide and water to hydrocarbons

The aim of the present project focuses on photocatalysis, in particular in the investigation by first-principles simulations of photocatalysts consisting of very small = sub-nanometer = ultranano metal clusters (pure or alloyed i.e. Cu, Ag or Ag-Cu) supported on oxide substrates (i.e. TiO2), and of the process of photocatalytic production of hydrocarbons from CO2 and water.
