S.E.R.V.E.: A Service Learning Project (AEIF 2012)

This project will develop as a sustainable model for a community-based and service-learning-infused pre-service teacher preparation program by creating various service learning projects at immersion sites, an online repository of resources (such as lesson plans, oral history narratives, science inquiry activities, cultural memory banks, videos, pictures, essays, poems, etc.), and the creation of the Service Learning Network of the Philippines, an association of service learning practitioners.

Urban Environments in Transition: Engaging Young Leaders and Raising Community Awareness through Multimodal Narratives (AEIF 2012)

This project will guide an initial group of 20 students from two Greek universities in engaging with their changing urban environments through a number of mentored, hands-on and community-centered activities. The students will use multiple media (photography, film, video, audio, installations, online platforms, etc) in combination with self-reflective/creative writing activities and interviews with community members. The project seeks to enable young leaders to engage in conversation with community representatives, boost their intellectual and critical engagement with real-life issues, and encourage them to take initiatives for raising public awareness in an effort to promote understanding between diverse groups.

PLAY (Promoting Leadership among Armenian Youth) Mentoring Project (AEIF 2012)

The PLAY Mentoring Project will pilot a youth-to-youth national mentoring network with an aim of fostering cross-regional peer support, national networking, and effective, proactive youth activism to serve the interests of local communities. The project will promote hands-on, community needs-oriented activity that will foster civic activism and personal responsibility for change among Armenian youth.
