At a time of HIV denialism in South Africa, where patients with end-stage renal disease and HIV had no treatment option but to be sent home to die, she pioneered an established procedure on a stigmatized population.

Slum Film Festival is a community based annual event featuring stories from, by and about people living in urban slums. Call for Poster Proposals
Please consider submitting a proposal for a poster session held at the 2018 Global Ties National Meeting in Washington DC (February 7-10). As we strive to involve conference participants with the latest research, best practices and lessons learned, nonprofit management skills, and more, we seek poster proposals that will inform and inspire meeting attendees. Poster content should be grounded in theory, research, or proven best practices, and should be relevant to participants' work in international exchange and grassroots nonprofit leadership. Posters will be displayed in the main exhibit area of the three day event.

Poster proposals may be submitted at http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/3799845/2018-Call-for-Poster-Proposals The deadline is November 1st.

It is possible to submit a proposal for research that is currently conducted and will conclude by December 31, 2017. Each presenter is responsible for printing their own poster.

South African Fellow Recognized by Huffington Post

Description

South African based fellow Tiyani Majoko runs a non-profit company that works with entrepreneurs. After hosting a 2 weekend Business Bootcamp workshop with 11 entrepreneurs with a focus on the Business Model Canvas and Human Centered Design, she used her lesson notes to weigh in on the Dove race controversy. In her piece, which was published by the Huffington Post, she highlighted how applying the principles of Human Centered Design may have prevented the damage to the brand.

I was working on my Ph.D. Dissertation on cross-border musical exchanges between Pakistan and India. I interviewed fans of Pakistani ghazals and qawwali, attended world music festivals, and participated in a number of conferences in different cities in India.
