LEAD the Initiative

This proposal is innovative in various manners. It proposes exposing participants to the use of technology in learning through video-documentaries, films and social media. It also proposes an approach of building competences and skills from the coaching perspective, being coaching a very new concept in Nicaragua, adopted by few companies in the corporate sector and only one university in Managua, the capital city. Coaching is being used in large universities around the world as an adoptable way of life, allowing people, teams and organizations to take control of the challenges that the current society of information presents today. Coaching empowers people and teams to change old fashioned practices that divide them to be substituted by practices and habits that increase self-esteem, confidence and effectiveness.

Through our projects you will learn more about a post-conflicting setting like Sierra Leone than you thought possible. The community will benefit from your knowledge and experience, and the economy will benefit financially. You will profit by honing your skills and utilizing them in a new environment for especially that needs them.
You will learn first hand about our work, as well as the work of other partner institutions in government, civil society organizations, INGOs and the United Nations. A reference letter and certificate is provided for all of our volunteers and interns.

Youth Partnership for Peace and Development is currently recruiting Volunteers for example the following positions:
1. Fundraiser: This position can be filled in by anyone around the world who would like exploring the possibilities of using their skills and strength in fundraising for the organization?s projects and programs. Are you wondering if we only need one person? Our answer is definitely no, and for this reason we need as much volunteers as possible.

2. Social Media: This will also be a virtual and on-the-ground volunteer position where our most significant change stories are published online and reaching as much people as necessary. Interested persons can volunteer from anywhere around the world.
From time to time, the volunteer will also help in facilitating some virtual classes for our Social Media Project where emerging and young organizations are trained to utilize the powers of ICT and Social Media for change.

3. For our Sustainable Youth Livelihood and Empowerment Program, YPPD also requires volunteers that are good in delivering entrepreneurship skills and among the key tasks will be reaching out to our operational communities across Sierra Leone and Liberia.

iCARE project

In general, iCARE project have the following goals: (1) Together with teachers, we help students broaden and understand the knowledge of energy saving and waste recycling. (2) Equip a group of 35-45 outstanding students with essential skills and knowledge to become green leaders and change agents themselves, such as leadership, presentation, and teamwork. (3) Provide students activities and events for them to take part in, make actual actions and feel motivated to continue saving their community.

UBING (Unity Builders In the Nation and Government)

UBING (Unity Builders In the Nation and Government) literally means "child" in ilocano dialect. They are the target clienteles in this volunteering organization founded by the SEAYLP spring 2012 participants from the Ilocos Region of the Philippines. They had reached out 4 remote communities already by bringing in volunteer kids ages from 13-16 by teaching youngsters both in and out school youth from far flung communities where technology is scarce. Through this, the children are exposed to what volunteering and reaching out to the deprived people really is. It is an actual engagement to the people where the government is far from their hands.
