Volunteer to Prosper Our Community (AEIF 2012)

This project will raise awareness of leadership, volunteerism, and community service among youth from 39 schools in the Rasht valley through a series of activities including a one day leadership and volunteer training, the establishment of volunteer clubs, a competition among the new clubs, a two month civic education course, a one week ?We are Volunteers? summer camp and two roundtables engaging local government and civil society.

Emerge Pakistan ? Empowering Women, Youth and Other Minorities in the Democratic Process (AEIF 2012)

This project empowers women and youth, as well as other minorities, to become involved in the democratic process. Emerge Pakistan will train 30 university students in public speaking, fundraising, networking, campaign strategy, field operations, and ethical leadership. During six months of training, participants will develop political motivational skills through social media and form connections with the legislative, judicial, and business sectors of Pakistan. Two months into the project, three host institutions will create student-led governing bodies to engage participants in university, local and national political issues, and to engage in community service projects.

AEIF team leaders aim to strengthen democracy in Bangladesh by empowering forty selected Youth Democracy Ambassadors to train peers on Peace and Democracy at six universities, create a Youth University Democracy Network, and engage regional leaders in a South Asian Youth Democracy Summit 2013.

CINTA Indonesia: Interfaith Youth Dialogue (AEIF 2012)

This project will teach participants basic conflict resolution skills, and how to promote dialogue and non-violent action as effective means to solve conflict. In addition, the project will increase tolerance, mutual understanding and collaboration among Indonesian youth and will demonstrate the importance of eliminating religious intolerance by learning from religious leaders what each respective religious tradition says about working together despite individual differences.

Center for Democratic Leadership (AEIF 2012)

The program aims to develop effective, exciting, and innovative curriculum and methods to teach civic education in schools within small Ukrainian towns where democratic institutions are extremely weak and trust in government bodies is very low. The project will not only teach students democratic theory, but also develop effective practical skills of democratic participation among youth. Through regular meetings and discussions with real policy-makers, students will overcome the fear they may have and learn how to defend their interests within a democratic system.

"ADOPT A PARK" - Reality Show and Green Academy for Environmental Actions (AEIF 2012)

This project seeks to raise awareness among young people about the environmental challenges facing Macedonia; increase the level of personal responsibility on the part of local businesses and young people; and improve the urban areas with concrete eco-actions. This will be accomplished through a three-phase program which includes comprehensive environmental education "Green Academy" program, a "reality show" in which teams will work to transform an urban area in front of a restaurant or caf into a green space, and a "Green Fair" to raise public awareness.

Urban Environments in Transition: Engaging Young Leaders and Raising Community Awareness through Multimodal Narratives (AEIF 2012)

This project will guide an initial group of 20 students from two Greek universities in engaging with their changing urban environments through a number of mentored, hands-on and community-centered activities. The students will use multiple media (photography, film, video, audio, installations, online platforms, etc) in combination with self-reflective/creative writing activities and interviews with community members. The project seeks to enable young leaders to engage in conversation with community representatives, boost their intellectual and critical engagement with real-life issues, and encourage them to take initiatives for raising public awareness in an effort to promote understanding between diverse groups.
