MAYEIN Mobile Library, Technology, and Civic Resource Initiative in Alaka Community

As part of its mission to bridge existing gaps in literacy, leadership, technology and civic knowledge amongst Nigerian teenagers and early youths, especially those of low income, Mayein operates mobile library services in the underserved Alaka Community of Ibadan, Oyo State. The Project offers books, literacy materials and other mobile library services, provides practical demonstration and training on how to use technology and relevant tools for learning ? e.g. Google, Micro-soft, Encarta etc, to children and teenagers who lack access and also demonstrates practical volunteerism, community action as well as participatory civic skills to children and teenagers in Alaka community, Oyo State,Nigeria.

Alumni Lead Anti-Corruption Program in Croatia and Serbia

Mario Bajkusa and Mihajlo Delic, two International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) alumni from Croatia and Serbia respectively, helped develop and implement a project, “Integrity: It Starts with Me,” which aimed to engage Croatian and Serbian youth in the battle against corruption.

Community Radio Empowerment for Anti-Corruption According the 2014 Constitution No. 6 regarding Village Sub-District in Indonesia necessitates the government to provide a substantial fund over one billion IDR every year for developing village. The real challenge posed by the impementation of this constitution is the readiness ? both political and non political ? of every village apparatus and community to manage the funds. There have been multiple lack of information distribution, training, and development from the top level government to the village level which may lead to insufficient amount of information regarding the implementation of constitution as well as minimum capacity and capability to handle the funds wisely. On the other hand, the funding is a mandatory procedure to grant better opportunity for the welfare growth of the villages. The other side, may promotes the increasing act of corruption in the local level. In long term, it will escalate the rate of corruption in nationwide scale.

Convergence of Faith

A program that will gather students of different backgrounds. The focus will be on Religious Pluralism and Interfaith Dialogue. The goal of the program is to educate young audiences about the importance of interfaith and interideological dialogues. Conflicts and atrocities around the world are happening on a daily basis, some of these conflicts are caused by miscommunication and failure to understand differences. Which is why, it is vital that the youth of today understands the importance of dialogue and tolerance. We need to understand our differences and give peace a chance. The program will also tackle issues such as Extremism and Conservatism, Gender and Religion, among others.

WILL (Women Inclusiveness for Literacy & Livelihood)

Women and girls in rural India have had limited access to formal education for centuries. Governmental agencies and philanthropists have been working to correct the situation, and the situation has improved, but still there is a long way to go. The percentage of rural women who are illiterate is not so insignificant and the consequent lack of information impacts their family education, nutrition, hygiene and healthcare. Our efforts is to create a unique platform which will no boundaries of any Age or Qualification and learning time for making them digitally literate and enable access for their day to day activities. We will bring them into the main stream by making them confident, self-dependent and digitally literate.
