STOP CHILD BEGGING IN SENEGAL THROUGH EDUCATION
Expiration: February 16, 2019In the Senegalese language, a "Talibé" is a student who learns Koran in a specific school named "Daara". He is placed under the tutelage of the teacher by his father. According to the map of Koranic schools in Dakar, around 60,000 talibé children can be found in thousands of Daara schools in Dakar.
These children don’t go to school, are often very poorly dressed and some of them have untreated illnesses and injuries. They eat food scrounged here and there from different places, sometimes sleep in the street and are forced by their marabout to bring in a fixed sum of money every day. This sight, although disconcertingly normal, nonetheless flouts these children’s most basic human rights.
In fact, Article 4 of the 1959 Declaration of the Rights of the Child stipulates that “the child must benefit from social security; he or she must be able to grow up and develop in a healthy way (…), the child has the right to adequate nourishment, housing, free time and medical care” (General Assembly of the United Nations). Begging undercuts all of these rights; rights which are essential for the physical and mental development of a child.
A cruel lack of awareness of children’s rights
In societies worldwide, children’s education is the responsibility of adults (parents, family, community and the government). Accordingly, Senegal largely agrees to take on this duty, and recognizes it as a right. In its 2001 Constitution, which has been changed many times, the Senegalese constituent stipulates that “all children, boys and girls, in all areas of national territory, have the right to go to school.
However, the phenomenon of begging remains very much present in Senegal and creates a barrier to schooling, in spite of the existence of many schools, public and private, designed to fulfil the right to education.
Child beggars are also exposed to all sorts of dangers to their physical and moral well-being, not to mention the care and good nourishment they do not get to experience. They are constantly in a vulnerable position, in spite of all the state measures taken by the Committee for the Protection of Children – la Cellule d’Appui à la Protection de l’Enfance (C.A.P.E) – based in Dakar, and the social initiatives put in place to eradicate begging amongst children.
A form of child trafficking
Certain people try to justify begging; particularly those who benefit from it. In fact, young beggars are sent out into the street either by their marabout or their parents or guardians. Since they don’t have the means to feed these children, the root cause of the situation is therefore poverty. The people responsible for protecting them and tending to their needs are actually exploiting them.
Begging is a new form of human slavery which society seems to allow and tolerate – all in the name of a religion which, in principle, fiercely protects fundamental human rights .
Illetraid International aim to help those children to go to school by buying their school supplies and ensuring them regular food and clean place to live.

The male-dominated Afghan society has led to the suspicion that women cannot do what men can, however there are women's abilities that can perform better than men.
Thirteen years ago, small women's associations were created in different parts of the country, towns and districts, due to insufficient capacity and sufficient knowledge they have not been able to provide effective activities, therefore, many of these associations are closed and their activities has stopped.

The association and organization's representative will continually follow the programs and seeks to introduce them with national and international donors to provide them a basic operation cost
2. Providing for Women's Participation in Good Governance in Afghanistan.
The patriarchal atmosphere of Afghan society has led women to participate in good governance. One of the most important reasons behind lack of women awareness to participate in good governance, most of youths do not know the good governance indicators, therefore, the Institute intends to carry out the following activities.
Educating over 80 young girls from forty social organizations on good governance, and the way to participate in good governance.
In the second phase there will be an advocacy group established among participants, ember of this group will receive specialized training courses and then litigating on specific cases that reinforce good governance in Afghanistan.
The organization will technical support the advocacy group, then, the group will provide peer-to-peer communication with other groups and make their activities coherent and timely, the organization will also continue to provide a strategy for advocacy groups to continue to engage them in good governance in Afghanistan.
3. Flexibility in the institution of the patriarchal society of Afghanistan for the admission of women at different and different levels.
Unfortunately, according to perceptions in Afghanistan, men imagine that women cannot do things that men can, so while the see presence of a woman in a position they do not think they are flexible and sensitive. In this section, the organization plans to launch a national dialogue under "What can women do?"
The implementation mechanism of this objective is the organization launch a Scientific competitions at universities and educational institutions with the question "What can women do?" In this competition, participants are asked to write an article about one of the activities that women can do. These articles are then collected and compiled and produce a short audio and video messages.
The winner of the program would be announced though a festival, and the developed messages publish though medias, this makes it possible for a number of men to realize that women can do a lot of work that men do.
Project Goals:
Overall Objectives: Empower women and girls in civil activities and participate in good governance process and create a flexible environment for admitting women at different levels.
Details objectives:
1. To train 80 women in (civic education, advocacy and good governance)
2. Re-activation of 40 women's organizations stopped for certain reasons.
3. Create scientific competitions to identify women's capabilities in Afghanistan
Project Impact:
As a result of this project, 80 young women and girls receive training on civic education, advocacy and good governance, as well as activation of 40 women's associations/organization that stopped their activities, this will be the basis for expanding the civil and political activities of women in the country, thus creating an incentive for other organization to resume their activities
Scientific competitions are conducted to identify women's abilities, on the other hand this create a scientific and knowledge based deluge and highlights women's abilities. As a result, messages that are provided from competition and the obtained material will be published, a large number of men will become aware of the abilities of women, and flexibility will expand to accommodate women
